Texas A&M Police Promote Costello To Assistant Chief

The Texas A&M University Police Department has promoted Lt. Edward J. Costello IV to the role of assistant chief of police.

In his new role, Costello will be responsible for the Support Services, Research and Planning Division, which includes communications, Clery Act compliance, evidence  and property, information technology, records, personnel, recruiting and training.

Costello has been a member of the Texas A&M police for 27 years and has held leadership positions in several areas, including Field Operations and the Support Services Divisions. For the past three years, he has served as the supervisor of Compliance and Support Services within the Support Services Division.

Costello is a recipient of the department’s “Officer of the Year” award and was a member of the Texas Army National Guard for 14 years. During his military career, he served overseas in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and was awarded the Bronze Star for Service and an Army Commendation Medal for valor.

A native of Garland, Costello holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas A&M. He is also a graduate of the Bill Blackwood Law Enforcement Management Institute of Texas Leadership Command College at Sam Houston State University.
