Texas A&M University Libraries will host a watch party Oct. 14 as the moon blocks out the sun during an annular solar eclipse.

The eclipse will begin in Aggieland at 10:35 a.m. and last until 1:34 p.m., with the maximum eclipse from 11:55 to 11:57 a.m. At maximum eclipse, 85% of the sun will be covered.

The watch party will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the East Quad, between the Liberal Arts and J.K. Williams buildings. Free safety viewing glasses will be available to students while supplies last, and the event will include student organization information tables.

The cosmos will provide another solar eclipse April 8, when 98.4% of the sun’s surface will be covered in the College Station skies. Texas A&M University Libraries plans to host a watch party and glasses giveaway for that event as well.
