Texas A&M Galveston Appoints Acting Chief Academic Officer

Texas A&M Provost and Galveston COO announce Antonietta Quigg will assume the role.

Antonietta Quigg, Regents Professor and senior associate vice president for research and graduate studies, has been appointed as the acting chief academic officer for the Galveston Campus of Texas A&M University.

Interim Provost and Executive Vice President Mark H. Weichold and Col. Michael E. Fossum, Galveston COO and Texas A&M vice president, made the announcement this week, thanking Quigg for her willingness to serve.

In her role, Quigg will have a dual reporting line to the Texas A&M Provost and Fossum.

A professor in the Department of Marine Biology, Quigg’s expertise lies in phytoplankton ecophysiology, physiological adaptation, photosynthesis, biological oceanography, biochemistry and biophysics, molecular biology, plant physiology and evolution. She earned her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and chemistry from La Trobe University, and Monash University, both in Australia.

An internal search for the permanent replacement will begin in spring 2021.
