Von’s Vision is coming back to Texas A&M University Student Health Services (SHS) Oct. 13-15, and is launching its newest program, Von’s Locker.

Von’s Vision is the charitable foundation of Von Miller, a former Texas A&M football player who currently plays for the Denver Broncos. Von’s Vision originated in the Denver area in 2012, and was brought to College Station in 2018. National, regional and community partners provide the vision care services for students. Each student has the opportunity to receive a free pair of corrective eyewear, if needed. Since inception, Von’s Vision continues to give the gift of sight to thousands of students in Colorado and Texas.

The Von’s Vision program now includes Von’s Vision Center and Von’s Locker. The Vision Center seeks to provide easier access to students in need of eye exams and eyewear. The Locker program provides eligible students who already have a glasses prescription with a pair of eyewear.

More information and registration for the Oct. 13-15 Von’s Vision program at Texas A&M is on the SHS website.

Undergraduate students who are eligible for financial aid at Texas A&M and who do not currently have vision insurance may be eligible to participate in either the Vision Center or Locker program.

With the addition of the Locker program, Von’s Vision will now have the capability of serving more in-need Texas A&M students with eye care services.

While most of Student Health Services’ focus has been on managing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on campus, SHS is mindful that students continue to need a wide spectrum of healthcare services, including vision care, to support their academic success. Dr. Martha Dannenbaum, director of Student Health Services, said she is pleased with the newest offering for students through Von’s Vision.

“Vision has become particularly important as most of our students are attending at least one class online, which requires good visual acuity to avoid eye strain, headaches and neck pain,” Dannenbaum said. “We are thankful that we can now offer students who already have a prescription access to quality glasses frames through Von’s Locker.”

Von’s Vision will continue its ongoing partnership with Hero Practice Services and Etnia Barcelona, who serve as the foundation’s exclusive lens provider and exclusive frames provider, respectively.
