Debbie Hoffmann, director of Transportation Services at Texas A&M University, was given the President’s Award for Exemplary Leadership at the Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) National Awards sponsored by Luum during the ACT Virtual International Conference this week.

Award winners are selected by ACT President Connie McGee. The Exemplary Leadership Award recognizes a member who has made significant contributions to the association through leadership and engagement in ACT.

“Debbie is a standout leader in our industry and very deserving of the Exemplary Leadership Award and we are extremely proud of her involvement with ACT and the Center for Transportation Demand Management (TDM),” said Associate Vice President Peter Lange, Transportation Services. “Her commitment to the advancement of TDM nationally and at the university level works to improve our nation’s mobility and drives these important initiatives to the forefront of our industry.”

McGee concurred, saying, “Over the past few years, Debbie has been an avid supporter of ACT and willing volunteer, ready to take on any task needed including the lending of help to design conference programs and support materials. Debbie has served as treasurer for the Red River Chapter and, in 2018, took the role of secretary for ACT’s newly established non-profit organization, the Center for TDM.”

In the virtual awards ceremony on Aug. 5, Hoffmann said, “I am extraordinarily humbled to be selected by ACT president, Connie McGee, for the Exemplary Leadership Award. The work I do for ACT is possible because of encouragement and support I receive from department and university leadership to be active in our industry on a national scale and help I receive from members of my team who share their time and expertise for projects we complete for the association. It is truly a team effort and I am honored to receive it for the work Texas A&M University Transportation Services contributes to ACT.”

“Debbie is a steadfast presence in ACT and her leadership within the Red River Chapter and nationally is tremendously appreciated,” McGee said. “In recognition of her commitment to ACT, it is an honor to recognize Debbie with the 2020 President’s Award for Exemplary Leadership.”
