Fusing Her Passions

Fall graduate Erica Garza was able to spend her time at Texas A&M pursuing two of her greatest passions: dancing and engineering.

Civil engineering major Erica Garza grew up listening to Latin music and had a passion for dance her entire life, she said. But she also wanted to pursue a career in engineering, and as a student at Texas A&M University, she was unsure if she could keep up with both.

Thanks to the group Salsa Fusion, Garza said she was able to explore her passion while still keeping up with her studies. She said it was hard to balance, but “when you’re passionate about something, you make time for it.”

Garza, of Pasadena, TX, graduated with her bachelor of science in civil engineering at Friday’s commencement ceremonies at Reed Arena.
