Chad Haga, a Texas A&M University former student and former president of Texas A&M’s cycling team, will compete in his first Tour de France July 7-29.

The 29-year-old mechanical engineering graduate of the class of 2010 is from McKinney, Texas, and now resides in Girona, Spain. He will compete as a member of Team Sunweb.

“Though you can’t be perfect, it doesn’t mean you can’t try to get as close to perfection as possible,” Haga said in his Team Sunweb biography. “This statement allows me to keep improving myself every day in things like my weight, technique and nutrition.”

Haga joined Texas A&M’s cycling team as a freshman in 2006 and began racing professionally in 2011. He has been a member of Team Sunweb since 2014.

Haga is the sole American on the 23-person men’s team.

Aggies and cycling fans can watch Haga compete on NBC Sports, or follow him on Twitter.
