Division Of IT Names Michael Sardaryzadeh Associate VP For Cybersecurity

Dr. Michael A. Sardaryzadeh has been named Associate Vice President for Cybersecurity, Policy and Compliance and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for Texas A&M University. Following a national search, he was selected from nearly a hundred applicants and will assume his new duties on Feb. 5.

“Information security is our top priority, and Dr. Sardaryzadeh has a proven track record of developing and leading cybersecurity for large organizations in innovative ways,” said Dee Childs, Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer. “His experience securing healthcare and proprietary data makes him uniquely fit for our current environment and preparing for growth of the University.”

Dr. Sardaryzadeh currently serves as CISO for Prime Healthcare, one of the nation’s largest for-profit healthcare systems in the country. He previously worked as Director of Cybersecurity for General Electric, where he led the creation of GE’s largest security intelligence and risk management platforms. He also served as Director of Cybersecurity for healthcare provider Kaiser Permanente for 10 years.

As CISO, Dr. Sardaryzadeh will be responsible for developing a comprehensive information security environment that supports the goals and missions of Texas A&M University. As a member of the Division of Information Technology executive team, Dr. Sardaryzadeh will work with University leadership and staff throughout Texas A&M University.

Dr. Sardaryzadeh earned a master’s degree in business administration and a doctorate in transformational leadership and cybersecurity from Chapman University in California.
