The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M will host, “NAFTA 2.017: Strengths, Weaknesses and Ways Forward,” Wednesday, Nov. 15, in the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center at Texas A&M University. A reception will begin at 5 p.m. with the event starting at 5:30 p.m.
Keynote speakers include:
- Carla Hills, a U.S. trade negotiator for NAFTA;
- Michael Young, president, Texas A&M University;
- Caroline Freund, senior fellow for Peterson Institute for International Economics;
- Alejandrina Salcedo, director of the Real Sector Research Area, Banco de Mexico.
The program is co-sponsored by the Scowcroft Institute of International Affairs and the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics and Public Policy in the Bush School of Government at Texas A&M University.
The new U.S. administration has been highly critical of NAFTA since President Trump took office this year. NAFTA, or the North American Free Trade Agreement, has eliminated most tariffs on trade among the United States, Mexico and Canada, and the country is watching anxiously as government officials are currently debating the future of this treaty.
The event is open to the public.
