Corps Of Cadets To Hold ‘Final Review’ Saturday
Texas A&M University’s Corps of Cadets will hold “Final Review” at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (May 7) at Simpson Drill Field. The event marks the end of the Corps’ campus activities for the current school year.
Final Review is the ceremonial transition of cadets from the senior leaders of this year’s class to the new sophomore, junior and senior leaders of the 2016-2017 Corps of Cadets.
The ceremony is conducted in two “Passes in Review” by the entire Corps. The “First Pass” is conducted by the entire Corps, and marks the final time that the seniors will march with the Corps as members.
The “Second Pass” is conducted by the cadets who were freshmen, sophomores and juniors in the Corps this year, but who have now stepped up to become the sophomores, juniors and senior leaders of the Corps for next year.
The “Second Pass” is conducted in honor of the out-going seniors, who act as the reviewing officers as next year’s leaders pass in review in front of them.
Officials say Final Review is an exciting and emotional time for all who participate, and has been a tradition for the Corps of Cadets at Texas A&M for more than 100 years.
They add that, for the first time in recent years, the seniors of Parsons Mounted Cavalry will pass in review as part of the Corps of Cadets on the “First Pass.” Debuting during the “Second Pass” will be Squadron 5 and Company G-1 – two units that will be “officially” reactivated next fall.
Family members and others are invited to attend.
