Incoming Texas A&M Student Gives Wheelchair To Homeless Man
Brandon Daroowala, who will be a freshman at Texas A&M University this fall, demonstrated exactly what Aggies mean by selfless service when he was driving home and noticed a roadside sign saying a disabled man needed a wheelchair.
Presumably countless motorists just drove on by and went about their business, but not Daroowala, who will begin pursuing an engineering degree at Texas A&M next month, and was in Cypress while returning home last week from a United Methodist Active Reachout Mission by Youth.
The sign he saw read: “Disabled man under bridge needs wheelchair 4 real. Please help.”
Daroowala drove to a nearby Walmart and purchased a wheelchair, which he took home and assembled.
When Daroowala arrived back at the bridge to deliver the wheelchair, the disabled man said: “I know who sent you …God, and Gig ’em, Aggies!”
Selfless service is one of Texas A&M’s core values, repeatedly instilled in Aggies throughout their college careers, but Daroowala embraced that one even before he got to Aggieland.
His good deed came to light via a social media posting.
