Noted French historian Nicolas Werth will give a lecture entitled “The Great Ukrainian Famine, 1932-1933, a Genocide?” at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library. The lecture is sponsored by the Scowcroft Institute for International Affairs at the Bush School of Government and Public Service, Texas A&M University.
“Mr. Werth’s lecture will bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge on a complex subject to our students and faculty,” Bush School Dean Mark Welsh said. “We are fortunate to attract such acclaimed speakers to our institution.”
Werth is the research director at the National Center for Scientific Research and a senior fellow at the Institute of Contemporary History in Paris. An acclaimed expert on communist studies and the history of the Soviet Union, Werth is the author of two books on the former Soviet Union, the co-author of Cannibal Island: Death in a Siberian Gulag, and the author of several chapters in The Black Book of Communism.
Werth’s remarks will begin at 12:20 p.m. in the Presidential Library Orientation Theater on Friday,
March 3.
