Texas A&M University is projected to again produce a record number of graduates — exceeding  9,000 for the first time, which would be among the most for any institution in the nation  — during 16 commencement ceremonies  conducted this month across the state.

Eight commencement exercises will be conducted on the main campus during a four-day span that starts Wednesday (May 11) with the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences awarding its Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degrees.  In all, more than 8,100 degrees are expected to be awarded during the multi-day ceremonies.

The 2 p.m. Friday (May 13) ceremonies will include the commissioning of members of the Corps of Cadets earning officer status in the armed services.  The currently projected number of graduates to be commissioned stands at 115.

For a full listing of the commencement ceremonies, see the graduation website.

In addition to the multiple College Station ceremonies, separate ones will be held for the university‘s graduates at its branch campus in Galveston (estimated 254 students)—a record for the maritime-focused institution—as well as for the Texas A&M University School of Law in Fort Worth (161 students) and at several sites around the state for the colleges and schools that are part of the Texas A&M Health Science Center (total of 684 students across the five allied health-related colleges).

Texas A&M graduation ceremonies actually began Thursday (May 5) with commencement ceremonies at Texas A&M University at Qatar, the university’s engineering oriented branch campus in Doha, where 77 students were scheduled to receive degrees.

University officials point out that the graduation and commissioning figures are based on current filings and related status and can be expected to vary slightly by the time of the ceremonies.

The Thursday-Saturday main-campus commencement exercises will be broadcast on KAMU TV.
