1. Philosophy Professor John J. McDermott Remembered As Conscience Of Texas A&M, Top In His Field
Dr. John J. McDermott, a Texas A&M University Distinguished Professor of Philosophy who passed away Sunday at age 86, was celebrated by school leaders and longtime colleagues this week as “the academic soul of the university” while being honored for his more than 60 years of teaching service, more than 40 of which were at Texas A&M.
2. Texas A&M Cadet Graduates Top Of Class From Marine Officer School
Former Texas A&M Corps of Cadets member Jacob Brookins, class of 2018, will be recognized during the Texas A&M and University of Kentucky game at Kyle Field Saturday, Oct. 6, for being the highest-ranked graduate of his 363-member class at the Marine Corps Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Va., this past summer.
3. Texas A&M President Young To Deliver State Of The University Address Oct. 4
Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young will give an update on numerous activities and new initiatives during his annual “State of the University” address set for 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 in the Bethancourt Ballroom, located in the Memorial Student Center on campus.
4. Texas A&M Employee Flu Vaccine Clinics Begin In October
The 2018-2019 flu season is right around the corner. To prepare, flu vaccines are being offered to Texas A&M System employees, their eligible dependents and retirees on five different dates starting mid-October. Both walk-in and drive-through services will be available.
