The Center for Translational Research in Aging and Longevity (CTRAL) in the Department of Health and Kinesiology is participating in the upcoming College Station 2018 Senior Games February 24-25.

The Senior Games encourages senior citizens in the community to maintain a healthy lifestyle and social relationships through recreational and athletic competitions, ranging from bowling to basketball.

During the event, CTRAL will offer a variety of wellness measurements at the Physical Education Activity Program (PEAP) building on campus from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The measurements include body composition, handgrip strength and nutrition information focusing on protein intake.

Dr. Laura Ruebush, Research Associate at CTRAL, said the Senior Games emphasize the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyle, including both physical activity and social relationships.

“CTRAL looks forward to having the opportunity to engage with older adults in the community to help the City communicate this message,” Dr. Ruebush said.

The 2018 Senior Games will be held at various locations in College Station. The event is open to the public and admission is free. A full list of activities and schedule with event times and locations can be found here.
