Texas A&M is one of 27 universities in the nation to be honored with a Women’s Excellence Award by the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC), one of the largest advocacy organizations for women. The award recognizes excellence and achievement in on-campus work to advance the sorority experience.

TAMU Panhellenic met all seven criteria for the award including: recruitment, Panhellenic structure, communication with NPC area advisor, judicial procedures, Panhellenic programming, academics, and Panhellenic community impact and relations.

An additional 12 schools met five or six criteria and were given Achievement Awards.

“NPC was founded to build cooperation among sororities on campus, and the 39 College Panhellenic Associations being recognized embody the idea that by working together each individual chapter becomes stronger,” said Frances Mitchelson Panhellenics chairman. “We are especially excited that this year more associations than ever before have reached the excellence level. It is our hope that the number of recipients at both levels continues to grow.”

This summer, Texas A&M was also cited as one of the top colleges in the nation for women and the only public institution in Texas so cited. The university appears at 40th in the “Best Colleges and Universities for Women” ranking.
