Chevron Corporation has announced a $1.5 million contribution to Texas A&M University through its University Partnership Program. The donation funded through the Texas A&M Foundation includes gifts to the Dwight Look College of Engineering, College of Geosciences, School of Public Health and the Mays Business School.

Chevron and Texas A&M have enjoyed a rich partnership together and the university plays a strategic role in Chevron’s University Partnership Program. The program works with more than 100 college and university partners around the world to help attract and develop talented students and teachers who can help achieve a more technically proficient global workforce.

Including this donation, Chevron has invested over $28 million in Texas A&M during the past eight years in support of sponsored research and initiatives to help build academic excellence. Over 900 Texas A&M former students are currently employed by Chevron at locations around the world.

“Chevron is proud to continue our longstanding partnership with Texas A&M,” said Shariq Yosufzai, Chevron vice president and Aggie class of 1974. “Aggie students have the reputation for being able to hit the ground running when they join our workforce and the ideals and beliefs instilled through the Aggie Core Values are in strong alignment with The Chevron Way and our business culture. Aggies serve in numerous leadership positions throughout our company and help us meet the global energy needs.”

The company has been a longtime supporter of Texas A&M providing funding for scholarships, fellowships, laboratories, research centers and other needs across the Texas A&M campus.

“We value our longtime partnership with Chevron, which invests generously in several Texas A&M programs so that students and faculty have opportunities to further their education and research,” said Jim Keller, Texas A&M Class of ’63, senior director of corporate and foundation relations for the Texas A&M Foundation. “Chevron is also an active recruiter of our graduates, many of whom later create their own gifts for the university, so it’s a productive cycle that we hope will continue long into the future.”

Funds from Chevron’s recent contribution will be used to implement a CT scanner lab that will provide state-of-the-art teaching and research capabilities for the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering; create a Chevron Center of Research Excellence for geological modeling at the Berg-Hughes Center; and provide curriculum development at the School of Public Health. Monies are also designated to provide scholarships and support various student organizations in the College of Geosciences, the Mays Business School and the Dwight Look College of Engineering.

Chevron is one of the world’s leading integrated energy companies, with subsidiaries that conduct business worldwide. The company is involved in virtually every facet of the energy industry. Chevron explores for, produces and transports crude oil and natural gas; refines, markets and distributes transportation fuels and lubricants; manufactures and sells petrochemical products; generates power and produces geothermal energy; provides energy efficiency solutions; and develops the energy resources of the future, including biofuels. Chevron is based in San Ramon, Calif.
