When SMU takes on No. 10 Texas A&M Saturday at Kyle Field, there will be more on the line for the former Southwest Conference foes than just the game.

The directors of the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Texas A&M University and the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum at Southern Methodist University are making a friendly wager on the game and each offering up something representative of the university where their library is located.

Warren Finch, director of the Bush Library and Museum in College Station, is wagering prime rib from Texas A&M’s Rosenthal Meat Science and Technology Center. “There’s nothing that beats one of these prime ribs, nothing,” Finch said.

Alan Lowe, director of the Bush Library and Museum in Dallas, is wagering “Mustang Bread,” a specialty on the SMU campus. “It’s pretty amazing and the recipe is a closely guarded secret,” Lowe said.

Whoever’s team loses, that director provides for the other library’s staff. The bet is a personal one between the directors and no appropriated funds will be used.

Finch said he predicts Texas A&M will win 41-0, in honor of George H.W. Bush, 41st President of the United States. Lowe predicts a 43-41 score in favor of SMU and said he looks forward to eating some good Aggie prime rib.

Texas A&M leads the overall series against SMU 43-29-7. Last year Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel led the Aggies to a 48-3 victory over the Mustangs in Dallas. The last time SMU won against Texas A&M was in 1984.

“It’s going to be a good game and a great game day atmosphere here in Aggieland. We welcome all Mustang and Aggie fans traveling to College Station and encourage them to visit our Bush Library and Museum,” Finch said.

Fans traveling to College Station can show their game ticket at the Bush Library and Museum to receive $2 off regular admission price. For museum hours, admission and other information for visitors, click here.
