Texas A&M’s David Parrott Wins National Award For Exceptional Contributions To Field

David W. Parrott, executive associate vice president for Student Affairs, was awarded the Association for Student Conduct Administration (ASCA) 2013 Donald D. Gehring Award for sustained exceptional individual contributions to the field of student conduct administration.

With more than 2,000 members representing over 1,000 institutions, ASCA has served the needs of campus student conduct officers throughout higher education since 1986. The Donald G. Gehring Award, named after ASCA’s founder, is the organization’s highest honor, recognizing:

  • Significant contributions to the mission, vision, and goals of ASCA and other affiliated organizations
  • Contributions to the field of conduct administration through program presentations, leadership, new innovations, research or publications
  • Support and promotion of conduct administration through mentoring and positive role modeling for other professionals
  • Significant contributions to the nominee’s institution

A past president of ASCA, Parrott has also served on the faculties of the Gehring Academy, the national training academy for student conduct officials, and the Student Organization Institute, which provides training for those who supervise or train advisors for student organizations. He currently serves as chair of the ASCA Foundation. Here at Texas A&M, Parrott teaches EDAD 610, Higher Education Law and chairs the Student Rules and Regulations and Expressive Activity Committees.
