Texas A&M University Press Publishes Account Of Uvalde School Shooting

Journalist Craig Garnett, who covered the event locally as it unfolded, is donating his royalties to the Robb School Memorial Fund.

“Uvalde’s Darkest Hour,” by Craig Garnett, chronicles the tragedy’s horrific chain of events, and presents the community’s attempts to heal, make sense of the incomprehensible, and seek meaningful change on the local and state level.

While Garnett covered the event as it happened from a journalist’s lens, it also directly impacted his news team. Among his five-person staff was Kimberly Rubio, whose 10-year-old daughter Lexi was killed in her classroom along with 18 classmates and two teachers.

Garnett and the book have been featured in the New York Times , Editor and Publisher Magazine, the San Antonio Express-News, and reviewed in Publisher’s Weekly

He will be donating his royalties from sales of the book to the Robb School Memorial Fund.
