Texas A&M Names Student Employees Of The Year

The university joined schools across the country in recognizing the importance of student employees during National Student Employment Week.

Texas A&M University has named the 2021 Student Employees of the Year, including a Campus and a Community Student Employee of the Year, as well as two recipients of the Class of 1956 Student Employee Endowed Award.

The university joins in national recognitions of student employees during National Student Employment Week each year.

Sarah Roberts of Liberty Hill, Texas, was honored as the 2021 Texas A&M Campus Student Employee of the Year. Roberts serves as a program assistant with the Full-Time MBA Programs Office at Mays Business School, where she assists with event planning, updating information within e-Campus and processing invoices.

Lynsey Wakeland from Denton, Texas, was recognized as the 2021 Texas A&M Community Student Employee of the Year. Wakeland is the communications coordinator for the Cross-Border Threat Screening and Supply Chain Defense Center of Excellence, within Texas A&M AgriLife Research. She supports the CBTS team with marketing and communication activities, assists with special events, writes abstracts and designs marketing graphics.

Roberts and Wakeland will each receive a scholarship from The Association of Former Students.

On their 50th anniversary, the Texas A&M University Class of 1956 established the Class of 1956 Student Employee Endowed Award. They said their hope is that through this award, they can recognize and celebrate the special kind of excellence that Aggie student employees embody daily. Brianna Blattman and Brandon Le  were recognized as this year’s Class of ’56 Student Employee Endowed Award recipients.

Blattman, of China Spring, Texas, serves as a student assistant for the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine Dean’s Office where she is a technical proctor in support of examinations administered via the ExamSoft software solution.

Le, of Round Rock, Texas, works as a student assistant for Texas A&M Engineering -Remote Learning Department. He assists with multiple administrative and technical duties in the Engineering Studio for Advanced Instruction and Learning Remote Education Office (eSAIL).
