Texas A&M University will make up postponed commencement ceremonies March 11-13 for May and August 2020 graduates who were unable to participate in their original graduation ceremonies due to the COVID-19 pandemic. December 2020 graduates who opted out of their original ceremony participation this past fall are able to attend as well.

The five ceremonies will be at Kyle Field and will include graduate names being read as they cross the stage and receive their diploma tube. Each graduate will be allotted 12 tickets.

Interim President John L. Junkins said commencement is always an important time for the entire university.

“These ceremonies carry special significance because the students who walk across the stage at Kyle Field are marking an important milestone in their lives and in the history of our university,” Junkins said. “Collectively, they have overcome so many challenges, and we are honored to celebrate their achievements and their perseverance in a way they richly deserve.”

Despite the pandemic, Texas A&M is closing out the 2020 graduation season awarding 5,118 degrees, with 4,869 of them awarded at the College Station campus. The total degree count includes undergraduate, master’s and doctoral level degrees at the College Station campus, the Health Science Center and branch campuses in Galveston and Doha, Qatar.

Interim Provost Mark Weichold said he is very pleased the university can now safely fulfill the promise it made last year to provide ceremonies for the well-deserved recognition of our graduates.

“It is gratifying that so many of our graduates and their families and friends are able to join us in these ceremonies,” Weichold said.
