Texas A&M University Announces Black History Month Events

Texas A&M University has announced its events for this year’s Black History Month (BHM) and organizers say both campus and local community members can expect a unique experience.

This year’s BHM theme is The Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity, outlined by the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH).

The majority of the events will be held virtually, including the kick-off event on Monday, Feb. 1 hosted by the Black Student Alliance Council (BSAC).

“BSAC strives to unify the community in its programs and recognize the successes of those in our community,” said BSAC President Corniyah Bradley. “Having events virtually increases the accessibility and outreach; Texas A&M students across the globe can tune in and participate in our events.”

In addition to students, anyone interested in viewing the events will have access.

Black History Month sponsors include the Black Student Alliance Council (BSAC), the MSC Carter G. Woodson Black Awareness Committee (WBAC), and The Association of Former Students.
