Texas A&M Hotel And Conference Center Wins Prestigious Stella Award
The Doug Pitcock ’49 Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center on the Texas A&M University campus is among the many local businesses and events venues that have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The venue’s staff have continued to move forward during this period of uncertainty, and have recently been recognized for consistently delivering quality service and innovation to meeting and events professionals.
Northstar Meetings Group has named the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center the Best Hotel/Resort in the Southwest and a winner of a Stella Award. The awards recognize hotels, convention centers, conference centers, airlines, cruise lines, hotels and other groups.
“We are extremely honored to be named the Best Hotel/Resort in the Southwest,” said Greg Stafford, general manager of the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center. “Receiving this coveted Stella Award is a testament to the amazing dedication of our entire team to truly be the difference and ensure every guest and meeting attendee’s visit is the best it can be.”
Stafford said the COVID-19 pandemic has been difficult for the hotel, with governmental agencies advising against travel and gathering in large groups to prevent the spread of the virus.
“During a time of difficulty and uncertainty, the entire team at the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center has moved forward with a level of courage and positivity that has made me so very proud,” Stafford said. “While receiving the Stella Award at any time is an accomplishment, receiving it during a pandemic makes it an even higher honor. The Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center team members are the best in the business, and this recognition is well deserved. It would not have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of each and every talented person who works at the hotel. This is a great win for us all.”
The Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center was selected as the gold winner by an expert panel of judges overseen by the editors of Northstar Meetings Group’s leading brands, Meetings & Conventions, Successful Meetings, Association Meetings International and Meetings & Incentive Travel. The hotel was recognized for achieving overall excellence, superb food and beverage, professionalism of staff, technology innovations, and other critical aspects of the meetings and event experience.
“Congratulations to the distinguished Stella Award winners for 2020,” said Loren Edelstein, vice president and content director for Northstar Meetings Group. “All of the Stella finalists and winners represent excellence in the meetings and events industry as suppliers, and we’re thrilled to honor the best of the best – especially in a year when the industry has been impacted so significantly by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thank you to the winners for supporting meetings and events planners around the world, and thank you for your commitment to quality, service and innovation.”
