Texas A&M University’s Agronomy Society will host its annual Aggie Corn Maze event Oct. 24-25 to benefit The 12th Can, Texas A&M’s student-run food pantry.

The corn maze, located at 2605 F&B Road in College Station, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. This year instead of cash donations, organizers will hold a food drive in which one canned good per person serves as an entrance fee.

“The Aggie Corn Maze is particularly special because the maze was grown and cut entirely by Texas A&M students, and the event is special because we have the A&M logo cut into our maze. So you could say that our maze is filled with the Aggie spirit,” said event organizer Ariana Lazo, a sophomore majoring in plant and environmental soil science.

Lazo said that people who visit the Aggie Corn Maze must practice social distancing and maintain COVID-19 safety protocols.  All visitors will be required to fill out a risk/liability waiver and wear a face covering.

She said the Aggie Corn Maze raised about $10,000 last year. The money was used to fund various club activities, such as student travel to scientific and professional meetings.

“Also, these funds were also used to help pay for various corn maze expenses such as the cost of growing the maze, fertilizer costs, water expenses and tractor fees,” Lazo said.

Participants will select a specific time slot to visit the corn maze and can arrive at any time within that hour. More information can be found on the Texas A&M Agronomy Facebook page.
