Texas A&M University recently reopened the Appelt Aggieland Visitor Center, which welcomes prospective students, families, former students and other campus guests.

“Greeted by a warm ‘Howdy,’ visitors are introduced to the Aggie Spirit from the moment they arrive,” said Kelli G. Hollinger, director of visitor experience. “Walking into Rudder Tower, guest excitement will begin as soon as they see colorful, iconic Texas A&M imagery, the perfect new selfie spot on campus and enter the contemporary, brightly lit lobby.”

The newly renovated visitor center includes an enlarged theater room to accommodate large groups, including high school groups. The student tour guides, known as the “Howdy Crew,” take visitors to a variety of campus locations, providing information about academics, athletics, student life and Aggie traditions.

“In many cases, students on the Howdy Crew deliver the first-impression of Aggieland to visitors,” Hollinger said. “We intensively train our student tour guides to build their campus knowledge and customer service skills. With every interaction, we communicate that Texas A&M is a values-driven, inclusive, accessible institution.”

Hollinger said updates have been made to the visitor experience to mitigate risks to the health and safety of guests and the campus community. Changes include a digital check-in to ensure a safe and speedy verification process. Registration is required to participate in campus tours and, upon registering, guests will be emailed a detailed outline of important guidelines. Visitors are asked to register online at least two weeks prior to their visit. Tour options are available through Friday, Aug. 14.

Per university guidelines, masks are required to enter the visitor center and on campus tours.
