During these demanding days, stories of “people helping people” offer a dose of much needed optimism. For more than two decades, that desire to help others has been an unending mission for a local non-profit financial services organization.

Aggieland Credit Union, a branch of Greater Texas Federal Credit Union, has been serving Bryan-College Station for more than 20 years, and Central Texas since 1952. Today, even in unfamiliar circumstances, the team of roughly 44 employees across four branches, has maintained its mission to enhance the financial well-being of members while preserving the unique benefits of cooperative ownership.

To protect both employees and customers during the COVID-19 pandemic, each branch is implementing increased cleaning and sanitation and utilizing its drive thru lanes to avoid person-to-person contact. Providing peace of mind extends beyond basic transactions.

“We have tried to focus on the well-being of our membership and our communities,” said Brandy Conway, senior vice president and chief marketing officer. “Over the past several months we have provided tips and short videos on how to adapt to the everchanging social and economic environment on our social media platforms.”

Between school closures, job disruptions and health risks, Aggieland Credit Union recognizes its role in helping our communities during the pandemic. It has launched a Facebook Fundraiser for Feeding America, the largest network of food banks, pantries, and meal programs in the country, matching all donations up to $1,000. The credit union is also offering a free Texas A&M University 12th Man T-shirt for every $20 donation.

Aggieland Credit Union has also provided support to the Austin Disaster Relief Network, donating portions of its advertising funds to assist the organization in fundraising efforts.

The team at Aggieland Credit Union will continue to proudly support the principle of “people helping people” through work with charities including Voices for Children – CASA of Brazos Valley, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Coach Gary Blair Charity Golf Tournament and the Cooper Dean Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund.
