Texas Chambers Of Commerce On Campus To Train Future Executives

As a part of its first actions from the agreement between Texas A&M University and Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives (TCCE) signed in April of 2019, the campus community is hosting 80 Chambers of Commerce Executives from the Southwest Region for professional education and networking Feb. 23-26.

Executives will be attending a series of sessions including topics such as Government Relations 101, Workforce Development & Programming and Business Ethics, as well as experiencing tours of campus and the Bryan/College Station community.  In its role, Texas A&M’s Public Partnership & Outreach Office is the accrediting body for the Chamber of Commerce Excellence certificate.

“Being grafted in an extended family of a university with such rich heritage and tradition brings us great joy as we launch the day 1 of CCCE and see the hard work of the last 18 months come to fruition,” said Cindy De Wease, president & CEO Clear Lake Area Chamber and 2020 TCCE chairman of the board.

“This partnership allows us to provide our training infrastructure, expert faculty and dedicated students to develop future Chamber of Commerce executives as they build upon their skillset,” said Chad Wootton, Texas A&M associate vice president of external relations. “Leadership is one of our six core values as a university, and we are excited to enhance our close relationship with the business community by helping develop emerging leaders with the same high quality standards and innovation we apply to all aspects of higher education.”

Beth Journeay, Institute for Organizational Management, Greater Angleton Chamber added, “We couldn’t be more proud for this partnership with Texas A&M University that adds a whole new level of expertise, excitement and opportunity.”

The final evening of the conference includes a graduation dinner and ceremony at the George Bush Library and Museum with wrap-up sessions on Wednesday morning.
