Several student bus drivers recently pulled into the final stop of their journeys at Texas A&M University, with some special guests in tow.

Graduating Aggie Spirit bus drivers for Texas A&M Transportation Services drove their families and friends to fall 2019 commencement ceremonies at Reed Arena. Aerospace engineering graduate and student driver Osmar Caballo said it’s an opportunity offered to the drivers in gratitude of their service.

The buses’ digital displays flashed that VIPs were on board. Besides being a way to beat the graduation traffic, said chemical engineering graduate Shayne Stevenson, it’s “a cool way to remember working here at A&M.”

Brent Kelm, assistant manager of bus operations for Transportation Services, said about 200 student bus drivers have driven their families to graduation on Aggie Spirit buses over the years.

“We’ve had so many parents and grandparents and different friends that have just thanked us, and said it was so neat to get to do that and have an already special day be a little bit more special,” Kelm said.
