Texas A&M University was presented with two diversity awards by the publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity at a reception Thursday night at the MSC Stark Galleries.

The university won the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) award and was named a 2019 Diversity Champion. Texas A&M President Michael K. Young and Vice President and Associate Provost for Diversity Robin R. Means Coleman received the awards from INSIGHT Into Diversity Publisher Holly Mendelson, who traveled from the magazine’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. to present the awards.

This is the first time Texas A&M has received a HEED award (one of 93 recipients nationwide) and been named a Diversity Champion (one of 16 universities nationwide).

The College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences also received a HEED award for the third year in a row.

Members of the Diversity Operations Committee and the President’s Council on Climate and Diversity were also recognized at the event.

The recognitions were first announced by the university in September.
