The Texas A&M University Office for Student Success will cap a national, weeklong celebration of first-generation students this Friday, Nov. 8 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in Rudder Plaza.

The First-Generation College Celebration will feature free food, entertainment, first-gen speakers, giveaways and an appearance from Reveille IX to honor the more than 13,000 Aggies enrolled at Texas A&M.

Founded in 2019, the Office for Student Success’s mission includes retaining students and increasing graduation rates, with an emphasis on supporting first-generation Aggies through advising and mentorship programs like Aggie Collegiates Ready to Explore the World (ACREW), Foundations of Continued Undergraduate Success (FOCUS) and IGNITE.

The national First-Generation College Celebration is spearheaded by the Center for First-Generation Student Success, an initiative of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) and the Suder Foundation.
