Forsyth Galleries To Celebrate 30th Anniversary

The Forsyth Galleries at Texas A&M announced a slate of events that includes workshops, immersive performances and an educational field trip.

Forsyth Galleries

The Forsyth Galleries at Texas A&M University will celebrate its 30th Anniversary with a slate of events and activities throughout the year.

Members of the Texas A&M, Bryan-College Station and surrounding communities are invited to view current exhibitions and take part in free events, food and music all year in the galleries on the second floor of the Memorial Student Center.

The Forsyth was established in 1989 as a museum to house the Bill ’35 and Irma Runyon Art Collection. It contains one of the world’s leading collections of English cameo glass, as well as a significant collection of 19th- and early 20th-century American art glass and paintings.

Silent Disco

  • Oct. 18, 2019, 7-9 p.m.
  • Forsyth Galleries | Memorial Student Center, MSC 2428
  • Grab some headphones (provided) and get down in the galleries while listening to the music of your choice. Mocktails and snacks are included in this free event. Headphones are limited, so RSVPs are encouraged. Appropriate for ages 12 and older.

Make Your Own Perfume Workshop

  • Oct. 20, 2019, 1-3 p.m.
  • Forsyth Galleries | Memorial Student Center, MSC 2428
  • Drop into the Forsyth and use essential oils to create a one-of-a-kind perfume. All supplies will be provided. This free event is appropriate for ages 6 and older.

30th Anniversary Party Featuring Nathan Felix’s Immersive Opera

  • Nov. 15, 2019, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Forsyth Galleries | Memorial Student Center, MSC 2428
  • Celebrate the Forsyth Galleries’ 30th Anniversary with hors d’oeuvres, an open bar and an immersive opera performance composed by Austin’s Nathan Felix. Wander through exhibitions and an operatic performance. Don’t miss this one-of-a-kind museum-going experience. This event is free and RSVPs are encouraged.

Cultural Field Trip to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

  • Nov. 23, 2019, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Hop aboard a chartered bus to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) with Texas A&M University Art Galleries staff in tow. This free event includes general admission to the MFAH and a ticket to the Berthe Morisot exhibition. Lunch costs will be on your own. Transportation details including pick up spot will be provided upon RSVP.
