Catch A Ride On TTI’s Autonomous Shuttle

Texas A&M Transportation Services and the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) will lead an autonomous shuttle demonstration on campus through Nov. 15. The shuttle route circles the Corps Quad along Lubbock, Bizzell, Lewis and Coke streets.

Operational deployment of the 11-passenger shuttle is Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shuttle will be on static display in the Texas A&M Fan Zone prior to the Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State home football game on Oct. 26.

The purpose of the demonstration is to introduce new mobility options to the campus community and gauge interest and use by students, faculty, staff and visitors.

Faculty members are encouraged to bring their classes to ride the shuttle during a class period or develop a class assignment that includes riding the shuttle. Staff members are asked to consider an outing to bring colleagues to ride the shuttle.

Additionally, Transportation Services and TTI plan static “display days” across campus, where the shuttle and a safety operator will be available to answer questions and provide an up-close look at the vehicle.

Autonomous vehicles will eventually touch all our lives and be shaped by all aspects of our many academic disciplines, not only in engineering and the sciences, but urban planning, policy, health care and business.
