Football fans can get their season started this Saturday, Aug. 17, at Dick’s Sporting Goods in The Woodlands where customers will be able to experience what it’s like to suit up in Aggie football gear and run onto Kyle Field.

The experiential event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1201 Lake Woodlands Drive and allows fans to interact with three brands at one time — Dick’s, adidas and Texas A&M University, according to Shane Hinckley, vice president of brand development at Texas A&M.

“We are thrilled to be working with two best-in-class companies — adidas and Dick’s Sporting Goods — to establish a premier shopping destination for Aggies in and around The Woodlands,” said Hinckley, adding that this marks the first big event with Dick’s, which is expanding their A&M offerings at the store. “We know that Aggies bleed maroon 365 days a year and they can now stop by this location all year to pick up their favorite Aggie gear.”

Dick’s – which operates more than 720 stores across the United States — sells high-quality sports equipment, apparel and footwear, as well as accessories for sports, fitness and outdoor activities.

Officials with Dick’s said that Texas A&M is one of the preeminent brands in Texas: “After meeting with Texas A&M and reviewing the data, it was clear that our location in The Woodlands was the perfect place to launch the first shop-in-shop for Texas A&M in our stores.”

Adidas, which is the official apparel brand of Texas A&M athletics, will have a wide variety of new merchandise in the Aggie shop-in-shop, according to James Murphy, senior director for adidas, NCAA.

“Throughout our partnership with Texas A&M, we have seen the power and unwavering support of the 12th Man,” Murphy said. “We are excited to be working with Texas A&M and Dick’s Sporting Goods to bring more Aggie gear to the Houston area.”

Hinckley said he knows fans will enjoy Saturday’s event, which will offer them a chance to win gift cards, tickets, autographed memorabilia and other items.

“We are bringing a piece of Aggieland to The Woodlands and are grateful to our licensing agency at CLC (originally named Collegiate Licensing Co., and now known as IMG College Licensing) for helping us create a unique experience to kick-off the start of a new season at Dick’s,” Hinckley said.
