I am excited to report that beginning this fall, first-year Aggies will experience the kickoff of Hullabaloo U, an innovative program designed to ease the transition into college.

This free seminar course is part of the Student Success Initiative, a campus-wide and multifaceted effort to improve retention and graduation rates for all of our students.

College is an enormous life change, so Hullabaloo U is designed to help incoming students make a successful adjustment to campus, both academically and personally. Each course is led by a faculty or staff instructor, peer mentors offer advice and encouragement, and new Aggies are surrounded by fellow first-year students, all combining to create a warm and supportive community. With no more than 25 students in each section, Hullabaloo U offers great opportunities for students to make meaningful connections and receive individual attention when needed.

Hullabaloo U is housed within our newly established Office for Student Success, a team of professionals who are charged with ensuring every Aggie is given the needed tools, resources and motivation to thrive.

Students are encouraged to attend this course during both fall and spring semesters and can sign up either during their New Student Conference or by emailing Meredith Malnar, director of first-year experience in the Office for Student Success.

I have the utmost confidence that this course will work wonders in preparing incoming students for the challenges ahead as they navigate university life.

A hearty thanks to the Office for Student Success and to all those involved with the upcoming launch of Hullabaloo U. I look forward to watching its mission unfold by easing and transforming college life for our wonderful students.
