For its quality and low cost, Texas A&M University has been ranked No. 8 nationally in a study of more than 2,200 institutions in Schools.com’s 2019 Best Colleges and Universities list.

The ranking is based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics’ Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS), as well as from the U.S. Department of Education’s College Scorecard.

Looking at factors like affordability, retention, graduation rates, student success after graduation, and online graduate degree catalog variety, Texas A&M performed well across many categories in the firm’s ranking system. The ranking’s methodology is explained in greater detail online.

It noted that Texas A&M students have access to a significant amount of programs available via distance education. In addition, more than 95 percent of Aggie students were in the workforce six years after graduating, according to the latest College Scorecard data available.

“The difference between rankings from Schools.com and other college ranking resources is that we understand how important it is for students to be able to afford a quality education with a diverse variety of degree programs and learning options,” editors said. “We know that highly exclusive and expensive institutions aren’t the answer for everyone, so we make sure to give extra weight to factors like the availability of distance education, part-time degree programs and other flexibility measures for a well-rounded picture of education in the country.”
