Aggie Leaders To Take Part In March Of Remembrance

An event that facilitates reconciliation between descendants of Nazi perpetrators of the Holocaust and Holocaust survivors will take place at Reed Arena April 7.

The March of Remembrance, an annual event that facilitates reconciliation between descendants of Nazi perpetrators and Holocaust survivors and encourages people take a stand against persecution, prejudice, and indifference, will take place at Reed Arena Sunday, April 7 from 1-4 p.m.

The day of events on the campus of Texas A&M University includes a living history presentation, Holocaust testimonies and a 2-mile memorial march. The event is free and open to the public.

Aggies who will take part in the event include Student Body President Amy Sharp, Texas A&M Distinguished Professor and Texas Holocaust & Genocide Commission Official Statistician Dr. Clifford Spiegelman and members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets.

Called the March of Life outside of the U.S., the March of Remembrance aims “to educate a generation that is often unaware of the reality of the horrors of The Holocaust — not only of the facts of what happened during that time, but also of the attitudes and incendiary propaganda that preceded it.” The event will also honor Holocaust victims and those who fought during World War II.
