The Aggie Muster Committee has announced Dr. Dwight A. Roblyer ‘84, Ph.D., Colonel, USAF (Retired) as the keynote speaker for the 2019 Campus Muster ceremony.

This year, the ceremony will be held on Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. in Reed Arena. Aggie Muster is a Texas A&M University tradition in which Aggies worldwide gather to remember their time at Texas A&M together and honor those who died during the past year. Roblyer will speak before more than 10,000 students and visitors at the Campus Muster ceremony, the largest of more than 300 Muster ceremonies held across the nation and around the world.

“I am so deeply humbled and honored to serve in this capacity at the upcoming on-campus Muster as we once again honor the past, present, and future relationships that are so central to the Aggie family,” Roblyer said.

Roblyer graduated from Texas A&M in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in physics and a minor in psychology. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, a Texas A&M President’s Endowed Scholar, commander of the Squadron Nine “Hellcats,” and a Distinguished Graduate of Texas A&M’s Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps detachment.

Roblyer served in the United States Air Force from 1984 until 2011, earning the master space operations badge and reaching the rank of colonel. His assignments included Air Force Headquarters, the Joint Staff, and the faculty of the Air War College.

During his military career, he earned a master’s degree in Space Operations from the Air Force Institute of Technology and completed a Ph.D. in Political Science at Texas A&M.  Since 2013, Roblyer has served as a lecturer in the Department of Political Science at Texas A&M, teaching over 7,000 students in the past six years and seeking to help them become lifetime learners and critical thinkers. He serves on the Texas A&M Honor Council, has spoken at multiple New Student Conferences, was honored as a 2017 Fish Camp Namesake, and was awarded one of eight 2018 Honoring Excellence awards from the Office of Residence Life.

Members of the class of 1969 will join Roblyer at the ceremony, as the 50th annual class reunion meets in conjunction with the events surrounding Aggie Muster.

At each Muster ceremony around the world, the speaker will be followed by the “Roll Call For The Absent” which is a reading of the names of those from that area who have died in the past year, along with those of other classmates or friends. As each name is called, a family member or friend will answer “Here,” and a candle will be lit in honor of their loved one.
