Dear students, faculty and staff,

Yesterday we had the extraordinary honor of having George H.W. Bush, 41st President of the United States, laid to rest on the grounds of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Center. He rests beside his beloved wife Barbara Pierce Bush, who passed away in April, and their daughter Robin.

It has been amazing to witness the outpouring of love for the Bush family from Aggies, the local community, state, nation and world. What a testament President Bush’s leadership during his many years as a public official as well as his deeply impactful philanthropic activities after leaving office.

Both during his esteemed career and now after his passing, he united Americans with his love of country, commitment to service and compassion for all people.

We are so proud to be able to carry on his remarkable legacy through the Bush School of Government and Public Service, George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library Foundation.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the Texas A&M staff and students, many of whom worked around the clock since the announcement of his passing, to ensure that yesterday’s event was properly and respectfully executed. This includes Bush School, Library and Foundation staff, University Police Department, the Division of Marketing and Communications, Transportation Services, Dining and Facilities services, and others. Your work has been outstanding – thank you.

In case you missed the event or would like to relive the many poignant moments, please view the following Texas A&M Today story.

We thank the entire Bush family for their enduring love and support for Texas A&M. We know that yesterday they saw our love for them returned in truly exceptional fashion.
