On Monday, Oct. 22, Aggie Agora, a non-partisan liberal arts group that facilitates public discourse and civic engagement at Texas A&M University, will host, “An Evening with the Common Ground Faculty,” 5:30-7 p.m., in Rudder Forum on campus.
The event will bring together five faculty members who have innovatively used Cass Sunstein’s book, “#Republic: Divided Democracy in the Age of Social Media,” in their classes. They will discuss the book’s influence from each of their disciplinary perspectives and the effects of social media on political and cultural relationships, and they will answer questions from students.
The discussion will include James Ball, assistant professor of performance studies; Daniel Conway, professor of philosophy; Johanna Dunaway, associate professor of communication; Catharina Laporte, instructional assistant professor of anthropology; and Timothy Woods, instructional associate professor of sociology.
