Texas A&M’s award-winning student newspaper The Battalion is celebrating its 125th anniversary and has published a special edition to celebrate the milestone.
The paper’s first edition was published Oct. 1, 1893. Since then, thousands of young journalists have worked at the student-run publication and many have gone on to earn national and international acclaim.
Megan Rodriguez, editor in chief of the paper, said that “the 125th anniversary is meant to chronicle our publication’s continued efforts to meet our high standards and highlight our greatest accomplishments. We hope this edition provides readers with insights into what The Battalion has seen and what the university has experienced throughout its rich history.”
All issues – more than 11,000 – of The Battalion have been placed in digital form.
