Mays Business School Hosting Grant Thornton CEO Mike McGuire Oct. 2

Mike McGuire, CEO of Grant Thornton LLP – one of the nation’s largest accounting, tax and consulting firms – will speak to leaders and students at Mays Business School on Tuesday, Oct. 2 as part of the Mays Transformational Leader Speaker Series. The series recognizes business leaders in industry and gives them an opportunity to share their knowledge with the communities of Mays, Texas A&M University, and the general public.

The public is welcome to attend keynote question and answer session with Professional Program in Accounting students 11 a.m. to noon in Wehner 183, Cocanougher Center.

McGuire has more than 35 years of experience working with high-growth, startup, and middle-market companies in a variety of industries. These include technology, services, construction, manufacturing, venture capital, distribution, retail and franchising. He has significant experience in capital markets transactions ranging from angel investing to initial public offerings. He has also advised numerous companies in a variety of industries on M&A strategies, due diligence and deal structure.

Prior to becoming CEO in 2014, McGuire served in a number of leadership roles for Grant Thornton, including: national managing partner for Operations; national managing partner of Markets, Industry, People & Culture; and managing partner of the firm’s Carolinas practice, which includes offices in Charlotte and Raleigh, N.C., and Columbia, S.C.

Prior to joining the firm, McGuire spent 20 years with Arthur Andersen in numerous roles of increasing responsibility, including as audit practice leader for the Carolinas.

McGuire has served on more than 40 professional and community boards during his career. He currently is a director of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce, the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and Queens University of Charlotte.

McGuire received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and management information systems from Bowling Green State University in Ohio, and is a licensed CPA in Illinois and North Carolina.
