Hispanic Heritage Month

By Texas A&M University Marketing & Communications Staff

The Hispanic Presidents’ Council at Texas A&M University announced a schedule of Hispanic Heritage Month events that will take place across campus and the Bryan-College Station community Sept. 13 through Oct. 20.

The month presented by the student-led Hispanic Presidents’ Council and sponsored by The Association of Former Students and The Department of Multicultural Services aims to recognize the contributions of Hispanic Americans to the United States and to celebrate Hispanic heritage and culture. After beginning as Hispanic Heritage Week in 1968 under President Lyndon Johnson, President Ronald Reagan extended the period of observance in 1988 to cover a 30-day period beginning Sept. 15 and ending Oct. 15.

Visit the Hispanic Presidents’ Council website for additional Hispanic Heritage Month programming information.
