Xi’s China: What’s Next? China On The World Stage In The Xi Jinping Era

Three renowned China experts will discuss Chinese affairs under President Xi Jinping and their impact on the world stage for “Xi’s China: What’s Next?” at Texas A&M University.

The event, hosted by the Scowcroft Institute at the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M, will be held Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018, at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center with a reception starting at 5:30 p.m. and the panel to follow at 6 p.m.

The panelists will discuss China’s current affairs and policies and what they indicate for the country’s future role on the world stage.

  • Elizabeth Economy, the C.V. Starr senior fellow and director for Asia studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. She is an acclaimed author and expert on Chinese domestic and foreign policy, writing on topics ranging from China’s environmental challenges to its role in global governance.
  • David Lampton, the Director of SAIS-China and China Studies at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. Formerly President of the National Committee on United States-China Relations, he is the author of many books and articles on China affairs.
  • Professor Carl Minzner, a professor of law at Fordham University. He is an expert in Chinese law and governance and has written extensively on these topics for academic journals and the popular press. He has also served as Senior Counsel for the Congressional-Executive Commission on China.
