Editor’s note: Texas A&M University officials announced Wednesday, April 18 that the Campus Muster ceremony Saturday, April 21 at 7 p.m. will proceed as scheduled. Reed Arena doors will open for attendees at 6 p.m. instead of 5 p.m.

Thousands of Aggies spanning multiple generations will gather on Texas A&M University’s campus this Saturday for Muster, the event held annually on April 21 to honor Aggies who have passed away in the last year.

The Campus Muster Ceremony, including the Roll Call for the Absent, will begin at 7 p.m. in Reed Arena. The doors of Reed Arena will open to the general public at 6 p.m. There is no parking fee, admittance tickets, or dress code. Overflow seating will be available in the Student Recreation Center.

During the Roll Call for the Absent, the names of the Aggies being honored are read out loud, and family members, friends, and classmates will answer for them with the word, “Here.”  A candle is also lit to signify that even though the individuals being honored are not physically present, they will always be with us in spirit.

Business leader Kathleen Gibson, a 1981 Texas A&M University graduate, will be the keynote speaker for the 2018 Aggie Muster ceremony.

The Reflections Display honoring all members in this year’s Roll Call for the Absent will be available in the Memorial Student Center Flag Room through April 21.

The annual Muster Camaraderie Barbecue will be held Friday, April 20 from 12 p.m.-2:30 p.m. on the Northeast Plaza of Kyle Field.

About Muster

Aggie Muster is a tradition unique to Texas A&M University that embodies and perpetuates the Aggie Spirit. Celebrated on April 21st every year, Muster engages thousands of Aggies worldwide to honor and celebrate the Aggie Family – past, present, and future. It is famously quoted “If there is an A&M man in one hundred miles of you, you are expected to get together, eat a little, and live over the days you spent at the A&M College of Texas.” Although over a century has passed and thousands of Musters have been held, the roots remain the same of honoring the Aggies who have passed and celebrating those gathered together.
