GLBT Awareness Week Kicks Off On Campus April 2

Texas A&M University’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) Resource Center is collaborating with multiple campus organizations to provide events and activities to help facilitate healthy conversation and understanding about Texas A&M University’s GLBT community.

Designed to allow students to share their stories, experiences, and to foster a respectful and understanding community, GLBT Awareness Week will help Aggies better understand the diversity of their community and the global society of which they are a part.

Although not during GLBT Awareness week, don’t miss Janet Mock on Thursday, April 12. Sponsored by the GLBT Resource Center, New York Times best-selling author and trans advocate, Janet Mock, will visit campus to continue a fantastic discussion on the GLBTQ+ community.

Texas A&M University Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender (GLBT) Resource Center

The GLBT Resource Center has been a part of the Offices of the Dean of Student Life since September 2007. It is a resources and referral center for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender Aggies and their straight supports. The center educates all campus and community constituencies on GLBT issues through programming about sexual orientation and gender identity/expression, advocacy, leadership, and visibility. The GLBT Resource Center also collaborates with student organizations, campus departments, and local community organizations to provide students with access to resources, activities, and support services.

Texas A&M University Offices of the Dean of Student Life

The Offices of the Dean of Student Life strive to enhance opportunities for students to participate fully in the University experience by providing information, services, programs, and involvement opportunities that facilitate responsible life choices and promote self and community awareness. Supporting offices include: Consensual Language, Education, Awareness and Relationships (CLEAR), the GLBT Resource Center, Health Promotion, New Student & Family Programs, Off-Campus Student Services, Student Assistance Services, the Student Conduct Office, Student Legal Services, Student Media, and the Women’s Resource Center.
