Texas A&M Police To Host ‘Coffee With A Cop’ Feb. 28

February 27, 2018

By Lt. Bobby Richardson, Texas A&M University Police Department

On February 28, 2018, officers from the Texas A&M University Police Department (UPD) will host “Coffee with a Cop.”  The event will take place in the Respect Lounge, 1st floor of the Memorial Student Center (MSC), from 9:00am-11:00am.   Coffee with a Cop is an informal meeting with the community to discuss community issues, build relationships, and drink coffee.  All members of the campus community are invited to attend.

Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for members of the campus community to ask questions and learn more about their police department.  It allows a positive interaction between community members and law enforcement officers in a relaxed environment, while making lasting connections with the community.

Coffee with a Cop is a national initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services. Similar events are being held across the county, as local police departments strive to make lasting connections with the communities they serve.

The program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
