1. Texas A&M Names Jimbo Fisher Head Football Coach

Jimbo Fisher, who led Florida State University to a national championship in 2013, has been named head football coach at Texas A&M University, Aggie Director of Athletics Scott Woodward announced Monday.  Fisher agreed to a ten-year contract worth $75 million. No state-appropriated funds will be used to pay the coach’s salary.

2. Texas A&M To Launch Mobile App That Boosts Student Success

Potential, incoming and current Texas A&M University students will soon have the opportunity to take advantage of Student Success Collaborative’s (SSC) Guide, a highly customized smartphone application that will help to ensure they stay on track during their time at the university.

Greater Texas Foundation provided the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service with a grant of more than $3 million that will establish a Rural Student Success Initiative to help increase access to college education for rural students in Texas.

3. Greater Texas Foundation Grant Supports College Access And Success For Rural Students

Greater Texas Foundation (GTF) is giving a grant of more than $3 million to the Texas A&M Foundation in support of the AgriLife Extension Rural Student Success Initiative.

4. Texas A&M Startup Showcases Standing Desks On National Stage

Stand2Learn, a startup company based on the work of Mark Benden, associate professor of environmental health and occupational safety at the Texas A&M School of Public Health and CEO of Stand2Learn, represented Texas A&M University at the inaugural University Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E) Showcase in Washington, D.C. in mid-November.

5. University Community Holiday Celebration Dec. 7

Texas A&M University President Michael K. Young invites the university community to a holiday celebration Thursday, Dec. 7 from 3-5 p.m. in the Bethancourt Ballroom of the Memorial Student Center.
