Kevin McGinnis, who served as the executive director of risk management and employee benefits for The Texas A&M University System, has been named Chief Risk/Compliance Officer at Texas A&M and will be a part of President Michael K. Young’s executive cabinet.
McGinnis, a 1988 graduate of Texas A&M who holds degrees in economics and political science, will be responsible for overseeing both compliance programs and operational risks of the university.
“After 28 years of working for all members of the A&M system, the opportunity to join Texas A&M directly and be a part of President Young’s cabinet is a great opportunity to serve my alma mater,” says McGinnis.
“While I will continue to look for opportunities to elevate the entire A&M system, I look forward to assisting President Young in furthering Texas A&M as a world-class university. I am privileged to play any role in the development of the positive attributes Aggies can carry into our society.”

In his role, McGinnis responds to any alleged violation of rules, regulations, policies and procedures, and ethical misconduct, and ensures that compliance issues and concerns are appropriately evaluated, investigated and resolved.
He also manages day-to-day operations of the Texas A&M Compliance Program and provides executive leadership when required. He also is responsible for maintaining and assisting offices and programs throughout the university in compliance matters and regulations.
McGinnis, a native of Boerne, Texas, and his wife Leslie, class of 1990, have three daughters who are members of the Texas A&M classes of 2017 and 2020, and a future member of the class of 2023.
