1. Texas A&M Joins Elite Group Of Host Campuses For Warrior-Scholar Project

While fall classes on the Texas A&M University campus don’t begin until later in August, 20 prospective students—all U.S. enlisted veterans—took their seats in a classroom on campus Sunday morning to begin an immersive weeklong academic boot camp designed to teach them good study habits and ease their transition to college life.

2. Galveston Grad Turned Coast Guard Officer Named Mrs. Texas U.S. 2017 

Texas A&M University at Galveston graduate Ann Marie Reigrut has an impressive resume, boasting a pair of master’s degrees, the title of reserve officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and licensed U.S. Merchant Marine officer. On Mother’s Day, she traded her blue Coast Guard uniform for a tiara and a sash and added another accomplishment: Mrs. Texas United States 2017.
